Job Description

The Business Development CDMO Director/Executive Director is a pivotal role in driving the growth and success of Moffit's Contract Development and Manufacturing Organization (CDMO) business. This individual will be responsible for identifying and cultivating strategic partnerships, securing new business opportunities, and expanding the CDMO cell therapy and viral vector manufacturing client base. A strong track record of success in business development combined with expertise in pharmaceutical and biotech manufacturing will be instrumental in achieving CDMO's ambitious goals. The CDMO is a new venture that will leverage Moffitt Cell Therapy Factory's (CTF) experienced faculty to offer cell therapy development across all cell therapy modalities and both autologous and allogeneic cell therapy assets, as well as the newly built Viral Vectors facility.

An Overview of the role:

·New Business Development:

  • Primarily responsible to evaluate and assess contract manufacturing opportunities with biopharma customers that are aligned to Moffitt Cell Therapy Facility capabilities and the upcoming Speros's CDMO suite of capabilities and services. Prospecting and calling on pharmaceutical and biotech companies, leading the entire sales cycle, to develop and present proposals.
  • Help establish the Cell Therapy Facility sales process and activity tracking to CRM databases that enable timely communication and commercial decision making.

 Strategic Business Planning:

  • Develop in-depth understanding of the CDMO business model and capabilities to develop a strategic plan to achieve sales and customer goals, be accountable for the business relationship strategy.
  • Evaluate and analyze business development results and trends to proactively contribute to short and long-term business planning.
  • Refine Moffitt Commercial Offer and Policies for Cell Therapy Activities
  • Develop a robust marketing campaign and deploy, including seminars, conferences and ancillaries
  • Provide customer perspective and input to internal strategic planning processes that ensure the CDMO's business priorities are closely aligned to customer priorities.

·Speros iCDMO new facility

  • Inform the new Speros facility design and Go-To-Market Strategy
  • Build a pipeline of global customers for the future site
  • Serve as strategic lead for the iCDMO facility launch, including building material for the investors and industry customers

· Client Relationship Management:

  • Accountable for successful resolution of customer experience issues by addressing customer concerns with appropriate action plans and within committed timeframes. Seek customer experience improvements by using customer feedback and relationship interactions.
  • Be the primary customer contact and visit current and prospective customers to showcase CDMO capabilities; travel not to exceed 50%

· Contract Negotiation:

  • Partner closely with the management, operations, legal and finance teams to prepare and negotiate customer contracts, Master Supply Agreements (MSA), and ensure that all MSA requirements are implemented, including pricing, payment terms, KPIs, SOPs, etc.
  • Closely coordinate and collaborate with internal cross-functional teams including manufacturing, operations, clinical, and ensure smooth sales processes and client relationship management
  • Stay informed of industry trends, competitor activities, and regulatory changes to enable timely decision-making and to maintain a competitive edge.

The Ideal candidate will have:

  • Prior experience (10+ years) in business development and business to business sales with in-depth understanding of the pharmaceutical/biotech contract development and manufacturing organization (CDMO) and the overall life sciences industry
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience specific to cell therapy manufacturing services (specifically CDMO & CRO)
  • Marketing experience with the knowledge of core marketing campaigns development and deployment
  • Strong knowledge of oncology, drug development process, adoptive cell therapy manufacturing processes, regulatory requirements and industry best practices
  •  A focus on being a results-oriented and strategic leader with a passion for driving business growth
  • Demonstrated success in building strong relationships within a matrixed biopharmaceutical account involving multiple functions and levels of senior management
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with ability to develop and deliver compelling presentations to senior management
  • Demonstrated strong interpersonal and negotiation skills

Preferred:

  • Detailed knowledge of the drug development processes including clinical development and regulatory requirements
  • Self-starter with demonstrated entrepreneurial spirit, enthusiasm and creativity
  • Well versed in a variety of business development approaches that can be adapted for sales to startup biotech or established pharmaceutical companies
  • Proven ability to understand financial analytics, prioritize multiple tasks, and drive projects to completion
  • Strong leadership and collaboration skills necessary to engage, influence and motivate colleagues at all levels · Strong facilitation and negotiation skills

Educational Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration or related field, a Master’s Degree is preferred
