Job Description
Summary
This is a part-time job for a student (8-10 hours per week). Laboratory helper will be working with plants and basic molecular biology. Laboratory helper will be involved in lab maintenance, making media, cleaning lab, and organizing materials. This job requires no previous lab experience.
Job Duties
- Assists with the growing and maintenance of plants in the greenhouse.
- Assists with lab procedures, making media, cleaning dishes, sorting materials.
- Sterilizes plant materials and lab items. Makes soil and plant plants in media and soil.
- Autoclaves dishes, cleans lab, restocks supplies, and makes media and prepares solutions.
Minimum Qualifications
- High School diploma or GED.
- No experience required.
Preferred Qualifications
- College science courses required.
- Familiarity with basic microbiology.
- Has willingness to work in greenhouse and be capable of light manual labor (lifting, plant plants, sweeping).
- Able to keep an accurate notebook.
