Summary

The Molecular & Human Genetics Department at the Texas Children's Hospital Clinical Care Center is seeking a skilled Research Coordinator II. The Research Coordinator (RC) will be in charge of specific protocols handling patients with bone disorders currently receiving experimental treatment drugs. In addition, the RC will assist activities of other protocols dealing with treatment of patients with specific neurodevelopmental disorders (crosstraining may be required).

 

The individual will coordinate day to day activities of human subject research protocols in a Pediatric setting. This will include screening, enrollment and monitoring of research subjects.  This position requires a person that can manage multiple tasks with a high attention to detail.  This position also involves accurate data collection, documentation, and ensuring overall safety of human subject participants.

Job Duties

  • Participates in the management of various aspects of clinical trials involving human subjects.
  • Works with other members of the study - nurses, physicians, financial and regulatory support.
  • Collects data accurately and enters data in an electronic database.
  • Responds to data queries.
  • Organizes study visits - arrange travel through travel agency; makes appointments with various departments.
  • Conducts drug accountability.
  • Packages and ships frozen and ambient lab specimens.
  • Participates in protocol specific training such as anthropometric measurements, ECGs, diaries collection management.
  • Contributes to study budget development.
  • Communicates, drafts and submits IRB protocols and amendments to Central and Local IRBs.
  • Assists with patient evaluations and data collection during the research visits.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field. Four years of related experience may substitute for degree requirement.
  • One year of relevant experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge and understanding of the Federal regulations and guidelines governing the protection of human subjects, e.g., FDA, OHRP, GCP/ICH , and HIPAA regulations
  • Must be experienced with computer files and spreadsheets.
  • College degree with science background or one year of relevant experience preferred.
  • Requires proficiency with computers, internet and Microsoft Office applications.
