Job Description
Summary
Population Sciences Biorepository (PSB) is an ATC core facility that provides support and services for biospecimen processing/storage in the DLDCCC and throughout BCM and the Texas Medical Center. The technician position will support all of the core projects with daily duties that includes receipt/fractionization of biospecimens, sample acquisition, data entry/documentation, sample shipment, inventory management.

Job Duties
- Receives biological samples from various clinics after which they are inventoried, fractionated, and stored according to existing Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
- Creates, updates, and revises SOPs as needed.
- Assists in preparing biological samples for shipment and analysis.
- Documents or tracks samples using relevant databases.
- Prepares samples for analysis, shipments and helps generate proper documentation for transfer of samples.
- Controls inventory by tracking or updating inventory management system.
- Works in collaboration with other staff to ensure all projects are completed in a timely and efficient manner.
- Coordinates sample acquisition from DLDCCC and other TMC affiliated clinics or hospitals to ensure timely transfer or processing of all biological samples.
- Attends weekly meeting with laboratory, clinical coordinators, and management to ensure all projects stay on track and address any issues that may arise.
- Works with laboratory directors to develop and tests new techniques/assays to support core projects.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in a Basic Science or related field. Four years of related experience may substitute for degree requirement.
- No experience required.
Preferred Qualifications
- Recent or upcoming college undergraduate with bachelor's degree preferred.
- Has excellent communication and organizational skills.
