ABOUT THE DIVISION and BIOLOGY DEPARTMENT:
At Solano Community College, students learn biology in our new state of the art science teaching laboratories facilities. The newly completed science building in Fairfield is central structure on the main campus. The Biotechnology/Science facilities in Vacaville were completed in 2017 and have assisted thousands of students in their science education. Furthermore, the science and mathematics division run classes on the second floor of the Vallejo Center.
The biology department hosts a robust and rigorous Biology majors’ program, pre-allied health education, and teaches non-majors general education biology courses. Microbiology faculty play a central role in teaching students in our Biomedical Sciences certificate and Associates degree program that prepares students for health science professions like nursing, respiratory technology, and other patient care fields. Cell and molecular biology and microbiology serve as a portal to other science fields like biotechnology. The most recent addition to our offerings is the Biomanufacturing Bachelor of Science Degree centered at the new Vacaville facility, one of only two such degrees in the state.
We want instructors who care about students, about pedagogy, and the future of our community. We are looking for an individual willing to take risks to achieve those goals.
