Job Description
NOW OFFERING SIGN ON BONUS FOR FULL TIME POSITIONS
I. Basic Purpose:
Provides radiation therapy to patients as prescribed by physician according to established standards and practices.
II. Major Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Complies with established corporate and departmental policies, procedures, objectives, quality assurance methods, and safety codes. Demonstrates compliance with licensing, regulatory and accrediting agency provisions as required.
2. Consistently demonstrates appropriate and professional communication behavior toward patients, customers, and coworkers. Cooperates with Management and peers to promote an environment of teamwork and collaboration.
3. Prepares written documentation as required by the profession and the department, such as evaluation results, individualized treatment plans, progress reports, and other such reports.
4. Delivers a prescribed and planned course of radiation therapy to patients; obtains patient history, answers patient question, and explains procedures.
5. Checks prescription, diagnosis, chart, patient identification, etc.
6. Interfaces with physicist, planning and mold tech at initiation of treatment; consults with supportive care physicians, nurses, and social workers.
7. Prepares room and equipment for patient.
8. Reinforces recommendations given to patient by the physician, dietician, etc., concerning reaction to treatment and care of the radiated area, prevention or treatment of generalized and local side effects.
9. Observes patient for any unusual reactions or events.
10. Assists in tumor localization and dosimetry procedures.
11. Aids in the training of radiation therapy students.
12. Enhances professional growth and development through participation in educational programs, current literature, in-service meetings, and workshops.
13. Attends meetings as required.
14. Maintains annual mandatory education requirements specific to position as mandated by Martin Health System.
15. Performs all other duties as assigned or requested.
III. Minimum Requirements (experience, training, and education):
To effectively fulfill this position, candidate must meet the following requirements:
> Associate's Degree; accredited program in radiologic technology and course in radiation therapy required.
> Current/Active State of FL CRT License required - primary source online verification required directly from State of Florida Licensing database.
> Current/Active registration with ARRT – primary source online verification required.
> Current acceptable CPR/BLS certification required: American Heart Association Basic Life Support for Health Care Provider OR American Red Cross CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer OR American Red Cross Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers.
