Job Description

SUMMARY:

Under the direction of the Principal Investigators, will conduct specialized research in the fields of behavioral and systems neuroscience. Will assist in the management/coordination of a small laboratory. No classroom teaching is involved in this position, this is a laboratory research position.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Will independently conduct scientific research projects with oversight from the PI’s
Will perform aseptic survival surgeries in rodents.
Will conduct behavioral experiments to determine the effects of mild traumatic brain injury on cognitive function in laboratory rats.
Will conduct stereotaxic surgeries and histological procedures for the purpose of mapping neural circuits in transgenic mice.
Will assist with preparation and management of IACUC protocols.
Will assist with the training of students, fellows, technicians and laboratory assistants as required.
Will assist with ordering and organizing equipment and supplies
Will collect, organize, and analyze data

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in neuroscience, biology or related discipline plus a minimum of one (1) year of related research experience. Must be comfortable and have experience working with rodents.
