Position Summary

The Clinical Pharmacist I is a licensed professional who provides safe and optimal comprehensive patient care. The Clinical Pharmacist I ensures federal, state, and local requirements, including all standards required by regulatory bodies such as The Joint Commission, are met. The Clinical Pharmacist I will perform medication management activities including analyzing, verification, monitoring, compounding, and dispensing. The Clinical Pharmacist I will serve as the medication management expert by providing accurate drug information to providers, nurses, and other clinical staff. The individual will supervise technicians during the shift and assist with training/education for pharmacy staff. It is expected that the Clinical Pharmacist I will collaborate with colleagues and provide excellent customer service to patients and staff.Additional duties may include quality and performance improvement activities or others as determined by Pharmacy Leadership.

Key Responsibilities include:

  • Ensures that he or she provides services that are accurate, reliable, courteous and timely.
  • Supports the efforts of all care providers to deliver quality care.
  • Demonstrates competence appropriate to their role and function in age-specific care.
  • Promotes the delivery of quality care consistent with the scope of practice of the discipline.
  • Provides and promotes professional practice standards through education and teaching
  • Supports care for a defined group of patients using effective delegation, supervision and decision-making skills.
  • Adhere to all professional and regulatory standards.
  • Promotes collaboration and teamwork among all members of the healthcare team.
  • Effectively communicates/educates all customers to meet organizational goals and customer service expectations.
  • Maintains current knowledge, skills and competencies through involvement in professional continuing education activities.
  • Effectively and efficiently uses resources.
  • Fosters involvement in performance improvement activities to promote continuous improvement in care delivery.
  • Demonstrates assimilation of core organizational values within own performance.

Basic education, experience and skills required for consideration:

  • Graduate of ACPE-accredited Pharmacy School or School with ACPE accreditation pending.
  • Experience may substitute for minimum education requirements.

Req. Certification/Licensure:

  • Current CA Pharmacist License.
  • BLS (through American Heart Association) certification or receive one within 3 months of hire date.

Preferred Education:

  • BS Pharmacy Degree, Pharm D preferred.

Preferred Experience:

  • Two years of experience, preferred.

Additional Information:

  • As a condition of employment, City of Hope requires staff to comply with all state and federal vaccination mandates.

Salary / Pay Rate Information:
Pay Rate: $64.28 - $102.85 / hour

The estimated pay scale represents the typical [salary/hourly] range City of Hope reasonably expects to pay for this position, with offers determined based on several factors which may include, but not be limited to, the candidate’s experience, expertise, skills, education, job scope, training, internal equity, geography/market, etc. This pay scale is subject to change from time to time.
