Job Description

Summary

The Li lab within the Section of Hematology and Oncology at Baylor College of Medicine invites applications for a postdoctoral research position to work on epidemiology and outcomes research in cancer associated thrombosis. The Postdoctoral Fellow will work primarily with Dr. Li, a hematology/oncology physician scientist and CPRIT scholar who specializes in thrombosis research and cancer epidemiology. The lab will train fellow specialized skills to incorporate novel data science tools in large-scale collaborative epidemiology studies using electronic health records and to become successful, cross-trained cancer and thrombosis epidemiologists and health services researcher. 

Job Duties

  • Designs cohort, case control, and cross-sectional studies using institutional and national claims and EHR databases.
  • Designs and gathers primary and secondary data using REDCap.
  • Analyzes data and prepares manuscripts and presentations at local, national, and international conferences.
  • Writes career development grants for future promotion.
  • Contributes as needed to the training of laboratory personnel, research technicians, clinical fellows, and graduate/medical students.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Education Required: Ph.D. in Basic Science, Health Science, or a related field.
  • No experience required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • PhD epidemiology or health services research, or MD with MS/MPH in epidemiology or health services research.
  • A strong record of first or senior-position peer-reviewed publications.
  • Excellent writing skills in English.
  • Proficiency in R or Stata.
  • Proficiency in scripting languages such as Matlab/Perl/Python.
