Job Description

Under the direct supervision of the Supervisor, Sports Performance, the Head Coach, Sports Performance is responsible for contributing to developing profitable sports performance programs by providing world-class performance coaching. Provides service quality to a level where half of all customers renew their membership and recommend our services to another.
  • Participates in planning, developing and implementing in-house and off-site sports performance programs that are profitable.
  • Coaches all levels of athletes: youth, developmental 1, developmental 2, and adult.
  • Ensures profitable program by providing world-class services.
  • Notifies supervisor of necessary inventory stocking or malfunctioning equipment.
  • Builds relationships with local schools, universities, clubs, professional teams, coaches, elite athletes and agents.
  • Follows system and department policies and procedures with special attention to attendance and punctuality, confidentiality, dress code and display of ID badge, and safety.
  • Completes mandatory education and training in order to maintain organization and department specific competencies and requirements. Maintains applicable certification/licensure. Maintains current Basic Life Support (BLS) and first aid.
  • Assists in any and all marketing of Sports Performance, both on-site and off-site marketing.
  • Develops warm-ups, speed, and strength workouts.
  • Provides quality customer service via scheduling assistance, billing assistance, and data collection.
  • Develops and maintains social and digital media marketing.
  • Assisting sport coaches at High Schools (Green) with training and programming.
  • Working with AD to implement different training plans/strategies for teams, etc.
  • Working at both Akron General facilities and non-Akron General facilities providing services to clients over a greater area.
  • Other duties as assigned


Education:

  • Bachelors degree in exercise physiology kinesiology or related field.


Certifications:

  • Maintains current Basic Life Support (BLS) and first aid. Maintains certification: Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) through the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA).
  • Complexity of Work:

    Work Experience:
  • Candidates in the final semester prior to graduation with a minimum of 250 hours of practical work [internship at private college or professional team] will be considered.
