The Pfizer Digital Customer and Commercial Creation Center team creates comprehensive technology solutions for our external customers.  This includes all digital (web, mobile, omni-channel, & devices) products, platforms, services and experiences in service of:

  • HCPs
  • Patients and Caregivers
  • Consumers
  • Clinicians & Study Participants
  • Payers, Hospitals, Pharmacies, Pharmacy Benefit Managers, Government Health Systems and Institutions

Solutions teams within the Customer and Commercial Creation Center are driven to ensure that every health system stakeholder is given easy access to the information and tools they need to manage the best possible outcome for patients.  

Opportunities exist for the Customer and Commercial Creation Center in many disciplines including web, mobile, artificial intelligence, and the electronic medical record (EMR) space to empower our stakeholders through seamless user experiences to support the detection, diagnosis, access and adherence for patients in their health journeys.

ROLE SUMMARY

The Production Engineering team ensures the smooth running of Pfizer web publishing platforms. We are seeking a candidate to join the production engineering team who can jump in and deal with an issue, and work towards finding a solution with general supervision from team leads.

The role spans across Pfizer Drupal and static sites, as well as dealing with CI/CD and infrastructure issues for both. This means someone who can learn on the job and eventually be able to switch contexts quickly.

Pfizer Web Publishing team works to build a platform and tooling for the development, launch, and maintenance of around 1,000 websites. The websites are a mix of Drupal and “JAM stack” static sites all hosted on AWS.

Our team is fully remote with team members located in various countries across Europe, North and South America. This means a lot of flexibility, autonomy, and trust. Being fully remote has its own challenges, and we put additional effort into ensuring we communicate well and truly operate like a team.

ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Debugging and fixing simple to moderately complex technical issues related to any of Pfizer Web publishing platforms and services that are escalated from Pfizer Support & Operations team.  
  • Performing regular and security updates to all Pfizer web publishing distributions and keeping all platforms dependencies up-to-date across all site's offerings.  
  • Handling and delegating reported issues via support ticketing system (Zendesk). 
  • Follow up with Pfizer vendors and internal teams and regularly update tickets statuses as needed. 
  • Proactively reporting issues and enhancements on Jira. 
  • Participate in minor enhancement projects to apply new features in CI/CD, platform and sites upgrades automations, internal sites dashboards and other areas as needed. 
  • Documenting processes and known issues in a clear descriptive manner. 
  • Manage the release and communications process across all teams for updating Pfizer install profiles.  
  • Focus on growing as an engineer, learning existing tools, resources and DevSecOps processes.  
  • Develops productivity skills by learning source control, editors (IDE), build systems (CI/CD), Cloud platforms (Atlassian, GitHub, AWS), and other tools as well as unit testing best practices.  
  • Accept feedback graciously and learn from everything they do

  • Works under general supervision using own judgement where needed.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor of Science in Computer Science or Engineering.
  • Fundamental knowledge in programming using PHP, JavaScript or Python.
  • Basic knowledge in operating and managing AWS infrastructures.
  • Basic knowledge of core engineering concepts and Agile development methodologies (i.e., Scrum, Kanban, SAFe)
  • Understands modern software engineering, including coding standard, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and releasing.
  • Capable of taking well-defined sub-tasks and completing these tasks under general supervision.
  • Effective in communicating status to the team.
  • Able to work under pressure.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • 3-5 years of experience in software development
  • Drupal development experience is a plus.
