Job Description
Summary
Assists the Laboratory Director or Principal Investigator in administering a Baylor College of Medicine laboratory. Provides professional guidance and technical support to faculty and principal investigators.
Job Duties
- Inclusion and scientific input into ongoing and future projects
- Supervision of technicians and fellows to meet study needs, assistance with data analysis and assessment
- Scientific SOP development for commonly used assays
- Consultation on project timelines, study design, assay troubleshooting, assay limitations, and study feasibility
- Project and Grant Support
- Benchwork for high-profile study needs
- Project reports, finding summaries, or when applicable presentation of materials
- Manuscript and grant section preparation, writing, and editing services where applicable
- Involvement in non-clinical research grant work
- Collaboration or core facility service searches and introductions based on project or lab needs
- Organization and maintenance of lab space, reagents, samples, and machines, establishment and compliance of lab etiquette, procedures, and conduct for basic and scientific operation
- Organization and supervision of individual lab duties and communication tools
- Orientation planning and training schedule for new members
- Competency assessment and compliance in general lab practices and techniques
- Establishment and compliance to lab record keeping, data storage, and reporting protocols
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in a Basic Science or related field.
- Four years of relevant experience.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in a related field.
- Experience with teamwork/collaboration, customer service, communication and analytical thinking/problem solving.
