Summary

The Zhao Wang Group at Department of Verna and Marrs McLean Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, Baylor College of Medicine, Houston, TX is seeking a Postdoctoral Associate. We are looking for highly motivated individuals with excellent track records and experience in protein purification and biophysical and biochemical characterization of proteins and protein complexes, preferably including membrane proteins, to assist in projects that aim at understanding the principles of protein-protein interactions in three dimensions and the structural bases for formation of molecular complexes in biological processes. Our approach relies on developing and extending the application of electron cryomicroscopy (cryo-EM) to determination of structures of protein complexes in different functional states. 

Job Duties

  • Designs study.
  • Analyzes protein/complex express and purification.
  • Collects, processes, analyzes, and computes data.
  • Presents project results to internal and external parties.
  • Writes engaging publications and reports.
  • Prepares and optimizes Cryo-EM/ET.
  • Models and refines 3D structure.

Minimum Qualifications

  • MD or Ph.D. in Basic Science, Health Science, or a related field.
  • No experience required.

Preferred Qualifications

  •  Structural biology technique (x-ray crystallography, cryo electron microscopy or NMR) experience preferred.
