Job Description

Summary

The laboratory works on the identification of new drug targets for the treatment of autoimmune diseases, such as rheumatoid arthritis. The department is seeking a research technician to work in the lab. Research technician will work on cell lines and samples from patients to identify components of a potassium channel involved in the pathogenesis of rheumatoid arthritis. 

Job Duties

  • Plans and conducts laboratory research experiments that includes the in vitro culture of cell lines and cells from patients.
  • Conducts electrophysiology assays using a semi-automated system.
  • Performs immunostaining and data acquisition by flow cytometry.
  • Works on data management and analysis.
  • Assists with laboratory inventory, ordering supplies, and regulatory compliance.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a Basic Science or related field. Four years of related experience may substitute for degree requirement.
  • No experience required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in wet lab techniques that includes the culture and functional assays with primary mammalian cells is desirable.
  • Experience or training in flow cytometry is a plus.
