Job Description
Summary
The Department of Neurology is seeking a qualified Neurophysiological Technologist I to join our team. This position will support Electromyographic (EMG) Testing in an ambulatory setting.
Job Duties
- Prepares patients for EMG testing by applying a variety of surface electrodes as required.
- Obtains standard recordings as directed by the electromyographer.
- Recognizes artifacts and takes appropriate action to eliminate them.
- Describes all abnormal clinical manifestations observed during the test.
- Obtains the patient's cooperation for the best performance of these procedures.
- Makes appropriate calibration procedures of the EMG apparatus for standard recordings; inspects and assures proper maintenance of EMG needle and related equipment.
- Recognizes and eliminates causes of electrical interference.
- Provides nerve conduction training to rotating residents and participates in various research activities.
Minimum Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED.
- No experience required.
Preferred Qualifications
- Associate's degree in physical, biological science or a related field.
- Board Certified in Electromyography/Neurophysiology by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology (ABPN).
