Job Description

Summary

We are looking to fill a postdoctoral position with a recently trained PhD who plans to pursue a career in muscle function and disease. The successful applicant will choose a research plans that falls within the overall interests of the laboratory in calcium signaling in skeletal muscle, muscle structure and function and/or muscle disease and development of therapeutic interventions. The applicant should be able to design and carry out the appropriate experiments, analyze the data and prepare manuscripts for publication. A knowledge of statistics is required.

Job Duties

  • Functions as part of a multidisciplinary research team.
  • Attends and present data at scientific conferences.
  • Gives departmental seminars.
  • Performs mouse colony management and genotyping.
  • Submits NIH postdoctoral training grant applications.
  • Keeps an indepth laboratory notebook.
  • Analyzes data generated and write manuscripts.
  • Designs an experimental plan.
  • Learns new techniques, including:
    • muscle structure and function analyses,
    • SDS PAGE,
    • western blotting,
    • immunoprecipitation,
    • Isolation of mRNA,
    • RNAseq,
    • ATACseq,
    • CHIPseq and methylomics.

Minimum Qualifications

  • MD or Ph.D. in Basic Science, Health Science, or a related field.
  • No experience required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • PhD.
  • Experience in working with mice.
  • Knowledge of physiology.
  • Skeletal muscle.
  • Calcium signaling and statistics.
  • Works well with others and as part of a team.
