Supervisor, Patient Access Systems

Position Highlights:

The Supervisor of Patient Access Systems is responsible for design, development,  troubleshooting, testing, and support of the system scheduling application which is utilized across the enterprise. This position supervises all scheduling system related projects and collaborates with management to implement design ideas. This position provides expert knowledge of scheduling methodologies, documentation, project plans, status reports, technical spec designs, and test plans.

Responsibilities:

  • Develops new scheduling system design by assessing the business need, clinical expectations, revenue cycle impact, and system capabilities.
  • Creates design idea specs for implementation.
  • Provides a level of expertise to system analysts regarding build decisions.
  • Represents scheduling design requests at council meetings.
  • Responsible for scheduling system implementations. Develops end user guidance for all scheduling implementations.
  • Assesses Cerner Millennium application failures, analyzes build components and/or technical scheduling designs, and order entry failures resulting in scheduling errors.
  • Tests design ideas through resolution.
  • Leads/ supervises a team scheduling analysts.
  • Updates project plans, incidents, and tasks for all Patient Access related system requests.
  • Oversight of scheduling system performance.
  • Supervises and requests status updates leading to the completion of all Patient Access IT requests.
  • Directs and/or facilitates large, multifaceted projects; facilitates new scheduling build initiatives; manages complex  professional relationships to accomplish projects and/or new design.
  • Performs root cause analysis for scheduling system issues.

 

Credentials and Education:

  • Bachelor’s Degree – field of study: Information Technology or Healthcare or Business related discipline
  • Five (5) years experience system and/or project design, implementation, and support
  • Five (5) years experience in a Patient Access scheduling system; preferably Cerner Millennium
  • Five (5) years experience documenting technical requirements for a scheduling and/or registration system and/or providing business analysis
  • Five (5) years experience in Revenue Cycle functions to include Patient Access or Patient Financial Services and charge capture
  • Three (3) years experience in project management or direct supervisory experience
  • Experience with work flow automation
  • Understanding of HL7 interface methodologies

Preferred Experience:

  • One (1) year Direct supervisory experience
  • Cerner Millennium scheduling application; Win32 or JavaScript 
  • Cerner Millennium User Maintenance
