Job Description
The Assistant, Physical Therapy, works under the supervision of the Manager Rehabilitation Services, and also under the supervision of the Physical Therapist as related to patient care and assignments. Responsibility is assumed for the following: administering patient treatments and patient education, maintaining of medical and departmental records, participating in staff development programs, orienting volunteers, educating students and other duties as assigned.
- Administers patient treatments according to department policies and procedures. Uses skilled techniques to provide patient care.
- Effectively schedules and coordinates patient care activities.
- Effectively communicates patient care activities.
- Achieves personal and professional development through participation in continuing education, in-services, staff orientation and student programs.
- Participates in performance improvement projects.
- Maintains an orderly and safe work environment.
- Adheres to department policies and procedures (non-patient care related), operational standards and record keeping protocols.
- Forms and maintains positive interpersonal relationships with patients and staff. Practices team work.
- Effectively organizes work assignments and time, without compromising quality patient care, to achieve maximum productivity and efficiency.
- Completes mandatory education and training in order to maintain organization and department specific competencies and requirements. Maintains applicable certification/licensure.
- Other duties as assigned
Education:
- Associate degree in Physical Therapy.
Certifications:
- Current license to practice as a Physical Therapist Assistant in the state of Ohio. CPR certification.
Complexity of Work:
- Maintains competencies specific to patient population served.
- Ability to make and maintain courteous cooperative and respecting relations with patients and staff. Good verbal and written communication skills. Ability to perform work requiring physical effort.
Work Experience:
- Demonstrable clinical proficiency.
Physical Requirements:
- Good manual dexterity for equipment operation and treatment techniques.
Personal Protective Equipment:
- Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required
