Job Description

Position Description
RA I responsibilities will consist of performing a variety of basic and general laboratory research and clerical tasks determined by the field and scope of the research studies in my lab. Assistance will be provided to two postdocs in the Goldberg Lab in their research and RA I will be assuming routine lab management tasks and billing responsibilities.

Duties will include:
 
  1. Aids senior postdoctoral fellows (Dr. Galen Colins and Donghoon Lee) in laboratory experiments utilizing standard cell biological and biochemical techniques and equipment;
  2. Maintains cell lines, carries out plasmid preparations and grows different bacterial strains for protein purification;
  3. Under direction, may help process, and organize data, reporting experiment results using a variety of statistical applications or program platforms;
  4. As a member of a project team, (as RA I gains experience) they may assist in the design of laboratory experiments and protocols;
  5. May perform routine biochemical assays of protein degradation independently;
  6. Performs various tasks necessary for maintaining laboratory function, such as insuring that we do not lack key reagents (liquid nitrogen) and cleaning equipment and ordering supplies;
  7. Processing orders and invoices, under the direction of Dr. Collins and administrative personnel.
Basic Qualifications
College background or equivalent work experience, preferably in biological sciences.
Additional Qualifications and Skills
  • At least one year of related work experience (relevant coursework may count towards experience).
  • Demonstrated abilities in basic laboratory techniques helpful, but not required.
  • Exposure to applicable computer technologies, including specific software applications, may be required.
  • Appropriate communication skills are required.
Additional Information
This is a one-year term position from the date of hire, with the possibility of extension, contingent upon work performance and continued funding to support the position. 

This is an in-person position based on our campus in Boston.
