Position Summary:
Lead, Research Informatics Application Development (City of Hope National Medical Center; Duarte, CA): Program web-enabled transactional database applications and create and maintain edit-checking programs and menu-driven reports. Oversee and direct the Application Development programming staff in developing solutions. Provide technical and user support for integrated and related computerized systems. Participate in activities such as hardware/software troubleshooting and investigating and testing new software and programming techniques. Manage research informatics software development and research informatics systems including Laser Ablation Data Reduction (LADR), REDCap, disease registries, and genomic result curation tools. Manage development of new software and maintain existing software, including data management, database design, data standards (FHIR and HL7), and implementation as needed for applications. Develop new and existing informatics software solutions in multiple programming languages using Angular, Java, Postgres (genomic sequencing tool), Angular, Node.js, SQL Server (Transplant registry), PHP: Hypertext Preprocessor, MySQL (REDCap application), C#, SQL Server (Rave Data Manager application), Vue.js, Java, and MySQL (Genomic patient interfacing application). Plan interconnected healthcare software development projects, prioritize tasks, streamline workflow, bridge communication gaps, barriers, and code review, and enforce best practices. Lead research informatics project development and provide project consultation. Attend meetings and provide input for the best methods to carry out medical and biomedical solutions. Train and provide staff development in research informatics methods and practices. Approve time-off arrangements, schedules, human resources related issues, and handle compensation and review issues. Mentor, train, and supervise developers. Evaluate and prototype new research informatics technologies and new methodologies. Provide recommendations on innovative options and best practices. Telecommuting permitted from anywhere within the U.S.
Minimum requirements: Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, or related field, plus ten (10) years of experience as a Senior Info Solutions Architect, Systems Engineer, Programmer Analyst, or related occupation.
Alternate Education and Experience: Master’s degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, or related field, plus eight (8) years of experience as a Senior Info Solutions Architect, Systems Engineer, Programmer Analyst, or related occupation.
Must have experience with the following: developing informatics software solutions in multiple programming languages including Angular, Java, Vue.js, Node.js, Python, C#, PHP, Postgres, SQL Server, and MySQL; developing research informatics systems using genomic result curation tools, disease registries, LADR, REDCap, and data standards (FHIR and HL7); software life cycle; evaluating and prototyping new technologies and new methodologies in research informatics and recommending innovative options based on best practices; leading research informatics software development using interconnected healthcare systems and project planning; Research Informatics project planning and project development, including requirement gathering and goal setting for medical and biomedical project solutions; Research Informatics methodologies and systems and division strategies; and developing health care research applications.
Salary: $120,039 – $200,466per year
