Summary

Come be part of the innovative research finance team in the Department of Obstetrics & Gynecology. This position will work with the outstanding Faculty in the department to manage a portfolio of awards. A successful candidate will have a can-do attitude with a deep understanding of financial reporting and a desire to learn on a daily basis.

Responsibilities*

Post-Award Activities and Financial Responsibilities: Responsible for financial transaction related to management and oversight of sponsored projects including but not limited to:

Efficiently and effectively monitor expenditures on sponsored projects providing Faculty and staff with recommendations for adhering to sponsor approved budget allocations
Image removed.Initiate set up of subcontracts and monitoring
Image removed.Image removed.Prepare post award change requests including necessary justification Submit necessary effort changes
Manage standard reports and requests for financial information from the sponsor, sponsored programs, financial operations, subcontract sites and subaccounts, along with processing any sponsor carryforward/no cost extension requests should funds remain.
Administration & Financial Analysis:
Image removed.Image removed.Image removed.Maximize budget and identify real and potential pitfalls to budgets and other compliance issues
Analyze and model financial options for PI and other stakeholders when situations requires
Presents options in a clear and professional manner either during monthly reporting to PIs, during regularly scheduled meetings with PIs or ad-hoc when more urgent situations arise.
Mentorship & Faculty/Staff Advisement:
Image removed.Reviews, approves and provides guidance to ObGyn staff and faculty in regard to purchasing approvals and processing on sponsored research
Image removed.Provides guidance to PIs and staff with regard to: fund reconciliation, documentation, budgeting and reporting; interpretation of sponsor guidelines (NIH, Uniform Guidance)
Required Qualifications*

Research Administrator Intermediate Requirements:

Image removed.Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and work experience
Image removed.Image removed.Three or more years experience in grant administration or higher-level financial activities is required.
Must have the ability to work in a team environment, collaborate effectively with co-workers, and provide high levels of customer service in interactions.
Image removed.The ability to organize and synthesize complex information about particular financial aspects resulting in clear and comprehensive summaries is required.

The ability to set priorities and manage competing deadlines is necessary.

Research Administrator Senior Requirements:

Image removed.Five or more years of continuous experience in grant administration or higher-level financial activities is required.

Desired Qualifications*

Knowledge of UM financial practices and processes is preferred
