Job Description

Summary

The Yong Li Laboratory at Baylor College of Medicine is searching for staff scientist to function independently to investigate the underlying biology of cancer, develop engineered T-cells, screen drugs against lymphoma, myeloma, and solid tumors, and collaborate closely with computational biologists and clinicians. The position will be involved in the development and application of molecular, cellular, and genetic approaches to understand the mechanisms of cancer predisposition, initiation, progression, and response to treatment. Job Duties

  • Design and conduct experiments in a controlled laboratory setting.
  • Utilize lab techniques such as molecular cellular assays.
  • Maintain mouse colonies and perform procedures.
  • Collect, analyze, and report data.
  • Assist the PI in training junior postdocs and students.
  • Conduct literature searches and summarize information in an appropriate format.
  • Troubleshoot and provides solution to improve outcomes and experiment design.
  • Oversee the maintenance of lab equipment and environment.
  • Write grant applications and peer-reviewed publications.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Doctoral Degree. Experience may not be substituted in lieu of degree.
  • Three years of post doctoral research experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Doctoral degree in biomedical sciences.
  • Extensive experience in cancer-related experiments such as molecular cellular assays, genetics and genomics, and/or mouse models.
  • A strong record of peer-reviewed publications in cancer (a publication at or above the level of Cancer Research as the first author is a plus).
