Job Description
Responsibilities:
- Assists Sleep Supervisor in the assessment of the competency of technologists
- Oversees the productivity and accuracy of the Polysomnographic Technician Registered Reading team.
- Monitors for quality assurance in accordance with Cleveland Clinic Sleep Disorders Center policies and procedures and established guidelines from American Academy of Sleep Medicine Scoring Standards (latest version published)
- Performs all duties of a Polysomnographic Technician Registered Reader
- Provides education to staff and all sleep technologists regarding best practices in reading sleep studies, provides mentorship to enhance the skill sets of other Readers and sleep technologists and may help in the development of the ASTEP program in conjunction with the Program Direction and may be asked to provide instruction to ASTEP students
- May present interscorer reliability findings and review at sleep technologist and sleep staff meetings
- All other duties assigned
Education:
- Current RPSGT credential from the Board of Registered Polysomnographic Technologist (BRPT).
Certifications:
- Registered Polysomnographic Technologist (RPSGT)
- Basic Life Support (BLS) Health Care Provider
Complexity of Work:
- Must be able to accurately identify sleep stages, respiratory events, along with all other parameters pertaining to sleep testing. Must be able to successfully meet and uphold the scoring requirements set by the American Academy of Sleep of Medicine (AASM) for the inter-scorer reliability (ISR).
- Must be able to effectively oversee and provide feedback to sleep technologists and scorers to help improve upon the overall scoring and testing in the sleep center.
Work Experience:
- Five plus years’ experience with testing and scoring both adult and pediatric patients.
- Selected candidate will have at least 5 years’ experience performing all study types with a strong focus on pediatrics.
Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to sit for long periods at a time in front of a computer identifying sleep stages and all other sleep parameters.
- The ability to assist patients in and out of bed in the event patient care is required.
Personal Protective Equipment:
- Gloves are mandatory when working directly with patients.
- Mask and protective gowns are optional for patient care.
