Job Description

At Moffitt Cancer Center, the Don & Erika Wallace Comprehensive Breast Program boasts a multispecialty, full-service clinic that offers the latest in preventive care and support for all breast-related conditions. Located in our McKinley Outpatient Center near Busch Gardens, our breast clinic provides our patients with all of the services they need from a cohesive team of doctors and other experts who specialize in breast cancer, including:   

  • Fellowship-trained surgeons
  • Medical oncologists
  • Pathologists
  • Fellowship-trained radiologists
  • Radiation oncologists
  • Plastic surgeons and breast reconstruction experts
  • Social workers
  • Fertility preservation specialists
  • Genetic testing and counseling specialists 

Our Breast Oncology Clinic cares for 80-100 patients on a daily basis.  We are currently looking for a Triage Registered Nurse to join our team. 

 

Position Highlights:

  • The Triage Registered Nurse (RN Advisor) uses the nursing process to effectively plan and manage patient care by providing individualized, quality nursing care to cancer patients and family members over the phone, in accordance with established Cancer Center guidelines, nursing care standards, and Moffitt Clinic policies.
     
  • Using the concepts of Duffy's Quality Caring Model, the Triage Registered Nurse (RN Advisor) ensures calls are answered promptly and accurately while assessing patient's urgent signs and symptoms.
     
  • The Triage Registered Nurse (RN Advisor) provides nursing interventions, acts as a liaison with the clinical team and documents assessment and interventions in the EHR.

The Ideal Candidate

·         The ideal candidate will have the following qualifications:

o   At least 2 years of experience in Oncology as a Registered Nurse

o   At least 2 years of experience in critical care as a Registered Nurse

o   OCN or ACON certification

  • Call center experience
     

Responsibilities:

  • Answer calls using Moffitt Promise Guidelines (AIDET), the quality caring factors, and the nursing process to assess the patient's issue, plan and properly evaluate the care.
  • Complete, accurate and timely nursing documentation.
  • Exercise clinical judgment and decision making. Recognizes emergencies and takes appropriate action.
  • Identify, document and provide accurate and appropriate patient education.
  • Participate in evidence based improvement activities related to area of practice. Participate in professional development based on the nursing professional standards, regulatory requirements and job expectations.

Credentials and Qualifications:

  • BSN from an ACEN or CCNE accredited institution with at least two years of relevant experience or ASN from an ACEN or CCNE accredited institution with 2 years of relevant experience 
  • FL RN License
  • BLS Certification
