Cleveland Clinic Lou Ruvo Center for Brain Health (CCLRCBH) in Las Vegas, Nevada is looking for individuals passionate about supporting innovative, world class research to join their research department. Successful candidates will join one of the largest research groups within the Cleveland Clinic Enterprise. Opened in 2009 as an outpatient and research facility, CCLRCBH has treated thousands of patients with Alzheimer's disease, Parkinson's disease, Huntington's disease, Multiple Sclerosis, and other neurocognitive disorders; research into the prevention and treatment of these conditions has been a critical part of our center’s mission since the beginning.

The MRI Research Engineer will work in structural and functional neuroimaging data analysis and will develop new algorithms and software for MRI/fMRI/DTI data analysis. Current research interests of the Institute are Alzheimer’s disease, Parkinson’s disease, Huntington’s disease, Multiple Systems Atrophy, frontotemporal dementia, and multiple sclerosis. The Lou Ruvo Center has a Siemens 3-Tesla Skyra magnet as well as a Siemens PET/CT.

The potential future caregiver is someone who:

-Has knowledge of MRI and related signal processing.

-Is experienced with fMRI and time series analysis (ICA, clustering, general linear model regression).

-Has mathematical and analytical skills.

-Has signal and image processing skills.

-Has programming skills (Linux, Unix, Matlab, python).

-Has organizational, communication, written and verbal skills.

Responsibilities:

  • Investigates new methodological approaches, and algorithm and software development for fMRI, MRI, DTI.
  • Develops new algorithms and software for MRI/fMRI/DTI data analysis.
  • Researches activities involving ICA, clustering, multivariate analysis, and other novel approaches to obtain activation patterns in the brain.
  • Develops test statistics for fMRI experimental designs.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Education:

  • M.S. degree in mathematics, statistics, physics, biomedical or electrical engineering, or related field.
  • Coursework must include magnetic resonance physics, signal and image processing, fMRI, and time series analysis (ICA, clustering, and GLM).

Certifications:

  • None required.

Complexity of Work:

  • Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment, and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
  • Have strong analytical skills, experience and interests in applied mathematics, statistics, MR physics, programming (C and Matlab), and signal and image processing.
  • Organizational, communication, written and verbal skills.

Work Experience:

  • fMRI knowledge and experience and interests in applied mathematics, statistics, MR physics, and signal and image processing.
  • Knowledge of MRI and related signal processing.
  • Experience with fMRI and time series analysis (ICA, clustering, GLM).
  • Mathematical and analytical skills.
  • Signal and image processing skills.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to perform work in a stationary position for extended periods
