Augusta University has embarked on an ambitious, multi-year effort to significantly expand its computing, cybersecurity, and health sciences research and education. The School of Computer and Cyber Sciences was founded in 2017 with the mission to provide high-engagement, state-of-the-art education, and research across its Computer Science, Information Technology, and Cybersecurity disciplines. The school is undergoing an unprecedented transformation and growth, starting the year 2022 with 35 faculty, as we are becoming a comprehensive research institution with national prominence, matching Augusta University's designation as Georgia's fourth comprehensive research university. The school offers a doctoral, two masters, and five undergraduate degrees in Computer Science, Information Technology, and Cybersecurity areas. The school has a rapidly increasing research momentum with more than 5 million dollars of new funding from NSF, DOD, and NSA within the past 18 months. The school headquarters are at the new Georgia Cyber Center at Augusta University, a 325,000-square-foot research and education facility representing a $100M investment by the State of Georgia.

The school is developing a new interdisciplinary Biomedical Systems Engineering (BMSE) program, the first undergraduate program of its type in Georgia. The program builds on the strengths of Augusta University in Health Sciences, and the growth in STEM and computing disciplines. The BMSE program, a four-year degree, will prepare graduates to develop digital healthcare-oriented systems and technologies with security and integrity guarantees. The program focuses on systems thinking perspectives to improve our understanding and management of biomedical and health-care systems.

Biomedical systems engineering is a strategic growth area for Augusta University. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to contribute to the BMSE curriculum development and be involved in collaborative research in their areas of interest with the faculty of several colleges at the university, starting with the School of CCS, our youngest college, and including the College of Science and Mathematics, the Dental College of Georgia (DCG), and the Medical College of Georgia (MCG), the 13th oldest and 9th largest medical college in the nation.

Responsibilities
Teaching Expectation: Teach up to a 3/3 workload per semester during the academic year as assigned by the Dean, to include all of the duties and obligations expected of a college professor not limited to, but including grading, maintaining regular office hours, class preparations, and following university policies regarding teaching.

Research expectation: Persistent scholarship leading to national/international recognition and impact. Key measures of success include publications and presentations appropriate to your field, which can include articles on instruction in your field as well as other activities.

Service Expectation: Service to the School of Computer and Cyber Sciences and Augusta University as requested by the Dean, service to the student body, and service to the profession, including local, regional, and national/international leadership within the discipline.

Required Qualifications
PhD in Computer Science, Information Technology or Cybersecurity

Assistant Professor - this rank requires a doctoral degree in computer science, information systems, cybersecurity, computer engineering or related disciplines. The candidate must have an active research program with publications appearing in high quality venues, including journals and conference proceedings.

Associate Professor -- this rank requires a doctoral degree in computer science, information systems, cybersecurity, computer engineering or related disciplines. At least five years at the rank of Assistant Professor or comparable training, background, and experience are required. The candidate must have an active externally-funded research program with a strong record of publications appearing in high quality venues, including journals and conference proceedings, and commensurate with being an emerging research leader in their discipline. The candidate must be visible within their research community as indicated by membership on the technical program committees of established conferences. The candidate must have a record of mentoring graduate students, introducing them to research, and leading them to graduation.

Professor (full) -- This rank requires a doctoral degree in computer science, information systems, cybersecurity, computer engineering or related disciplines. At least five years at the rank of Associate Professor or comparable training, background, and experience are required. The candidate must have an active externally-funded research program and a strong record of competitive federal or state research funding. The candidate must have an outstanding record of publications appearing in high quality venues, including journals and conference proceedings, and commensurate with being a recognized research leader in their discipline. The candidate must be highly visible within their research community as indicated by chairing the technical program committees of established conferences and/or by serving on the editorial boards of leading journals. The candidate must have a proven record of mentoring doctoral students and successfully leading them to graduation.

Required faculty employment qualifications for all USG institutions and all academic ranks within these institutions shall be:

Consistent with the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC)'s requirements for institutional accreditation;
Evidence of ability as a teacher;
Evidence of activity as a scholar and ability in all other duties assigned;
Successful experience (which will necessarily be waived for those just entering the academic profession who meet all other requirements); and,
Desirable personal qualities judged on the basis of personal interview, complete biographical data, and recommendations.

Shift/Salary/Benefits
This position is academic year based and typically works August through May, depending on dates outlined in offer letter and yearly contract.

The intended work commitment or full-time equivalent (FTE) for this position is 1.0.

Assistant Professor- Salary and compensation is commensurate with education, experience, and achievements. The salary is subject to availability of funds.
