Job Summary
The primary purpose of the Health Professions Advising Program Coordinator is to provide health professions advising services for students interested in graduate programs, including Medical, Physician Assistant, Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Dental, Pharmacy and other health professions programs. The professional advisor will help prepare the next generation of healthcare providers and will work closely with the Health Professions and Outreach Center Director, students, faculty, staff, professional graduate schools, and other key stakeholders to address issues related to pre-health professions programs.

The Health Professions Advising Program Coordinator works primarily with students who have earned 60 hours and are applying for graduate study.

Responsibilities
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Undergraduate Program Pathway Management: Develop pre-health professions advising programs for use in one-on-one advising during the student's undergraduate career based on requirements of health professions programs and the student's interests; Develop and deliver timely, supportive health professions advising services to students and in service professional development and training for internal collaborators; Advise students for career/program choices, clinical experiences, extra-curricular activities, professionalism, leadership skills, service orientation, interpersonal skills, and interview skills; Support the curricular delivery of an INQR 1000 Health Professions focused section; Serves as the advisor to Alpha Epsilon Delta Pre-Professional Honor Society.

Graduate Program Admissions Preparation: Develop planning and resource materials for support of student application to graduate health professions programs; Deliver advisement programs, including individualized sessions with students; Develop and conduct programming for students, including workshops on health professions, test preparation resources, career options, centralized application services, personal statement writing, interview skills, etc. in collaboration with Career Services; Maintain updated understanding of admission requirements for health professions programs at the graduate level (including those not offered at AU).

Relationship Management: Collaborate with the College Advising Offices, other advisors and faculty mentors, pre-health professions clubs, other units across campus, health professions programs, local/regional institutions/agencies, and the local healthcare community; Develops and shares expertise in pre-health advising with students, colleagues, and the community.

Professional Development: Develops a personal professional development plan with short- and long-term career goals. Engages regularly in professional development and scholarship, both as a member of the institution's academic community and as a member of the local, regional, and national pre-health advising communities. Mentors and supports the development of others within the unit.

Other duties: Perform all other job-related duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university and two years experience working with college students. Strong computer skills that include all Microsoft programs including Word, Excel, and Power Point for presentation that may be required.

Preferred Qualifications
Master's degree from an accredited college or university in higher education, counseling, or a health related field and a minimum of three years experience working with college students. Knowledge of health professions programs is preferred. Applicants must be as good communicator, self-starter, have technology skills, have strong organizational skills, be reliable, and the ability to multitask.

Strong verbal/written communication and presentation skills; Must exert a high level of professionalism and self-motivation; Experience in customer service; Ability to work independently without extensive supervision; Detail-oriented, with the ability to multitask in a dynamic, fast-paced environment using multiple databases and software; Strong emotional intelligence with the ability to interact and develop relationships with a broad range of individuals; Proficiency in all Microsoft applications; Resourcefulness in conducting effective and efficient office operation to facilitate and support the mission of the department; High ethical standards and a commitment to confidentiality; Demonstrated ability to work with a wide range of people and commitment to diversity. Demonstrated ability to efficiently and effectively solve problems and initiate and implement projects independently.

Shift/Salary/Benefits
Shift: Days; Monday - Friday
Pay Grade: 14
Salary: Minimum: $17.40 - Midpoint: $22.11
Salary to be commensurate with qualifications of the selected candidate within the established range (generally minimum-midpoint) of the position
