Job Description

Summary

Highly productive research laboratory located at Texas Children’s Hospital/Baylor College of Medicine seeking a research technician to work in bacterial antimicrobial resistance. The technician, in addition to the basic requirements for the Research Technician I position, will be motivated, highly professional, attention to detail and willingness to learn multiple new methods.  Occasional evening or weekend hours. The technician has strong communication skills and enjoy working in teams.  This is an entry level position.

Job Duties

  • Performs laboratory work for research studies.
  • Performs clinical microbiology and molecular laboratory assays.
  • Conducts routine laboratory experiments. 
  • Performs routine technical laboratory procedures. 
  • Orders laboratory supplies and equipment. 
  • Enters data into research database. 
  • Cleans equipment and work area. 
  • Assists in the preparation of laboratory reports. 

Minimum Qualifications

  • Associate's degree in a Basic Science or related field. Two years of related experience may substitute for degree requirement.
  • One year of relevant experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Be motivated, highly professional, attention to detail and willingness to learn multiple new methods.
  • Strong communication skills and enjoy working in teams.
