Job Summary
The College of Sciences and Mathematics (COSAM) is seeking an Academic Advisor Level I, II, or III. Under general supervision, the candidate will advise undergraduate students in the college as well as serve the COSAM Student Services office as part of a dynamic team of advisors.

Essential Functions
Essential Functions include but are not limited to:
Provide face-to-face and/or virtual advice to students in all matters related to academic and/or curriculum matters

Assist with and coordinate registration procedures

Advise student group(s);

Conduct Camp War Eagle (new student orientation) and S.O.S. (transfer student orientation) sessions

Evaluate and maintain confidential student records

Participate in undergraduate recruiting efforts
Minimum Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
Education:
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in Psychology, Counseling, Education, Communications, Business, the Sciences, Math, or related field.

Experience:
Level I: No experience required.

Level II: 3 years of experience in academic advising in higher education is required.

Level III: 5 years of experience in academic advising in higher education is required.

Substitutions allowed for Experience:
When a candidate has the required education, but lacks the required experience, a related and relevant graduate degree may substitute for two (2) year’s experience.
Minimum Skills, License, and Certifications
Minimum Skills and Abilities

Desired Qualifications
Master’s degree in Psychology, Counseling, Education, Higher Education, Business, the Sciences, Math or related field. Knowledge of fundamental concepts, practices and procedures in advising or counseling, and demonstrated commitment to and record of working with underrepresented students.
