Job ID: 250739Position #: 20011627 The Department of Chemistry and Physics at Augusta University invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor in Chemistry with a focus on Medicinal Chemistry to begin in the fall of 2023. A doctorate in Chemistry, Pharmaceutical Sciences, or a closely related field and postdoctoral experience are required. Applicants must have a demonstrated ability for success in research and scholarship with a strong potential to establish a robust, extramurally funded, and nationally recognized research program. The successful candidate should have a commitment to teaching excellence and will contribute to the undergraduate and graduate programs by teaching medicinal chemistry and other lecture and/or laboratory courses based upon expertise, program needs, and interest. Required Qualifications
Doctorate in chemistry or related field; postdoctoral research experience.
Preferred Qualifications
Teaching experience, grantwriting experience.

The Department of Chemistry and Physics offers an ACS-approved BS chemistry program, a BA in chemistry, and a MS in Biomolecular Science with a concentration in Medicinal Chemistry. The department is located in a newly constructed science building on the Health Sciences Campus with numerous opportunities for collaboration due to close proximity to the Medical College of Georgia, Dental College of Georgia, and Georgia Cancer Center. The department also houses the Chemical and Biomolecular Analysis Facility which contributes to the robust core facilities and services that support the research enterprise at Augusta University (https://www.augusta.edu/research/core/).
