Job Description**Are you passionate about your work and dream of utilizing state-of-the-art facilities to explore solutions? Do you want to join a dynamic team that solves significant issues and challenges for our nation's security?** We are seeking a Postdoctoral Appointee to join our team. You will solve complex multi-physics problems primarily in the areas of hydrodynamics and radiation transport, drawing heavily from plasma physics. You will need a strong theoretical understanding to properly utilize in-house computational simulation tools. To be a well-rounded analyst, you will also need programming skills, an understanding of model and code verification and validation techniques, and familiarity with using High Performance Computing systems. If you have an interest, there are related needs in the department for knowledge in areas of atmospheric transport, air chemistry, and non-local thermodynamic equilibrium physics. You will mentor under more experienced staff and be expected to produce high-quality presentations and reports. There will be minimal travel.
+ You have a PhD in Physics, or a related discipline, obtained within the last 5 years + Your background includes experience in computational simulation of hydrodynamics, radiation transport, or plasma physics + You possess programming experience in C++ or FORTRAN + You can obtain a DOE Q level clearance
+ High level of academic success in undergraduate and graduate programs + Knowledge and interest in atmospheric propagation, air chemistry, or non-local thermodynamic equilibrium physics + Experience with parallel programming in high-performance computing environments + Programming or scripting experience with Python or Matlab or willingness and ability to learn + Basic proficiency with Linux commands + Experience with software tools for debugging, code profiling, and mapping geographic information (GIS) + Experience with V&V techniques and uncertainty quantification methodologies + Experience with visualization software (e.g. Tecplot, Paraview, Origin, Blender…) + Ability to perform independent research + Excellent communications skills with experience in giving presentations, constructively interacting with coworkers, and preparing peer reviewed publications + Ability to work effectively in a team in various roles (leader and group member) + A current DOE Q clearance, or DoD equivalent. In addition, ability and willingness to obtain SCI clearance, which may require a polygraph test

Position requires SCI access. Position requires a Department of Energy (DOE) Q-level security clearance and SCI access. SCI access may require a polygraph examination.
