Job Description

Postdoctoral position in the Laboratory for Applied mathematics, Numerical software, and Statistics (LANS) in the Mathematics and Computer Science Division at Argonne in the area of optimization and machine learning for problems where multiple, potentially conflicting metrics exist, or where discrete parameter choices are important.  Investigates models, algorithms, and develop solvers for multi-objective or mixed-integer optimization in the context of goal-oriented learning for simulation- and experiment-based scientific use cases. 

Expected/recent doctoral degrees in applied mathematics, computational engineering/science, computer science, operations research, statistics, and related fields interested in advancing algorithms, models, and solvers. Experience with mathematical modeling, optimization, or machine learning and programming. Incumbent will have the opportunity to participate in a collegial and stimulating environment that includes multidisciplinary collaborations, deployment of the world's first fully exascale supercomputer, world-class mathematical libraries, and special-purpose hardware for machine learning. The MCS Division at Argonne National Laboratory is a leader in the design of numerical algorithms, development of software tools and technology, and simulation of applications of interest to the U.S. Department of Energy.
