Job Description

We invite you to apply for a Postdoctoral Appointee position within our Chemical Sciences and Engineering Division (CSE). 

The research will be focused on the development of new electrolyte materials, including additives, salts, and solvents.

Under the guidance of a supervisor, you will:

  • Conduct fundamental research in the development of electrolyte additives and salts for lithium-ion batteries. 
  • Plan and conduct research on materials characterization, including electrochemical evaluation and structural characterization.
  • Carry out mechanistic studies on the working and degradation process.

We expect you to have:

  • Experience in organic synthesis; possess good problem-solving skills based on thorough understanding of synthetic methods and reaction mechanisms.

  • Knowledge of organic chemistry; possess high-level understanding of molecular electronic structure properties and structure-function relationships.
  • Skill in the purification and characterization of organic compounds.
  • Knowledge of using various analytical techniques, such as FTIR, GC-MS, NMR, etc., in elucidating the solution chemistry of electrolyte.
  • Experience in preparing manuscripts for submission to peer-reviewed publications, presenting papers at scientific meetings, and constructing reports and presentations to meet sponsor reporting requirements.
  • This level of knowledge is typically achieved through a formal education in chemistry, materials science, engineering, or a related field at the Ph.D. degree level with 0 to 3 years of experience or equivalent in the scientific application of this knowledge and practical laboratory experience.
