Job Description

The Yale School of Medicine of the Department of Psychiatry is recruiting one highly motivated bioinformatic postdoctoral associate (2-year appointment) to begin August 1st, 2020, who aspires to become an independent academic researcher in the areas of addiction genetics and epigenetics and computational psychiatry.

The postdoctoral associate will work primarily with Dr. Ke Xu, Associate Professor on NIH-funded studies of identifying epigenetic (e.g. DNA methylation) alterations associated with substance misuses in humans. The role will involve in analyzing high throughput genomic data including DNA methylation sequencing, RNAseq, single cell RNAseq, performing integrative analyses and delivering analytical results. The applicant will be expected to have capacity to work independently as well as collaboratively with other members in the lab, to have experience in developing workflows for sequencing data and ability to multitask.

Other research duties will include authoring and co-authoring several manuscripts per year, assisting with grant writing, collaborating with other investigators, and attending professional conferences.

Qualifications include a doctoral degree in genetics/epigenetics, statistical genetics, and bioinformatics, or other relevant area at the time the position begins and excellent project management and writing skills. Excellent programming skills (R or Python, Linux shell scripting) and experience with high performance computing in Linux environment is required. Experience with substance misuse research and 1-2 years prior post-doctoral experience are preferred but not required.
