The College of Science and Technology is accepting applications for a tenure-track, Assistant Professor (Data Science) (Position #18417) vacancy in Fall 2021. Successful applicants will assist in developing a new Data Science program and will demonstrate a commitment to excellence in teaching a broad range of computing and statistics courses and a willingness to foster undergraduate and graduate research.
Faculty are expected to maintain a research program leading to peer-reviewed publications and to obtain externally funded research grants; and participate in University service and to exhibit a dedication to equity and inclusiveness. Ideal candidates will also share an interest in developing interdisciplinary initiatives in data science (computational and data enabled science & engineering).
Candidates must possess a Ph.D. in Data Science, Computational and Data Enabled Science & Engineering; or a closely related field.
Ability to teach Undergraduate and Graduate Courses;
Ability to engage undergraduate and graduate students in research;
Ability to secure external funding to establish and sustain research programs;
Ability to demonstrate competency in the infusion of modern technology into teaching;
Ability to show high level of scientific creativity;
Ability to teach collaboratively with faculty across disciplines; and
Ability to clearly communicate scientific information, both written and orally.
This is a Faculty position.
Conditions of Employment
Successful candidate is subject to a pre-employment screening which includes a review of criminal records, reference checks and verification of education.
