Summary of Job Duties:
A postdoctoral research position is available in the Laboratory of Cellular Bioenergetics and Mitochondrial Disorders at the University of Arkansas under the direction of Dr. Iyer.
The Postdoctoral Fellow will employ innovative approaches including patient-specific induced pluripotent stem cells, bioenergetics, metabolomics to engage in independent reasoning and excited about integrating molecular biology, cell and developmental biology, and omic technologies to understand mechanisms of pathophysiology of pediatric mitochondrial disorders. The Postdoctoral Fellow will work with a range of technologies in imaging, metabolic assessments, and stem cell biology and publish research findings in peer-reviewed journals. The position will also gain valuable experience with writing grant proposals, supervising graduate and undergraduate students, and developing multidisciplinary collaborations.
The Department of Biological Sciences at U of A is a highly diverse and research active environment that provides researchers with many opportunities for learning and research collaborations. Of note, active collaborations between other departments on campus at U of A and University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS) located in Little Rock are ongoing within the department.
The is a two-year appointment, renewable based on the need for the position, availability of funding, and continued satisfactory level of performance in the role.
Ph.D. and/or M.D. with at least five years of postdoctoral training conferred by the time of appointment
Experience with peer-reviewed research manuscript preparation, submission, and publication as a first author
Demonstrated effective communications skills
Demonstrated ability to coordinate multiple projects and work independently in a collaborative environment
