The University of Houston–Clear Lake seeks to hire an Associate Dean in the College of Science and Engineering (CSE). The Associate Dean will report to the College Dean and will be well-versed in and connected to the national conversation regarding higher education, particularly around learner outcomes, general education, workforce needs and different learning modalities such as competency-based education. In addition to being well-informed about higher education administration and learning models, the Associate Dean will engage with UHCL leadership on how to create operational excellence as UHCL moves toward the next evolution of higher education learning environments. To ensure the enhancement of the CSE learning environment the Associate Dean will collaborate with the Center for Engagement, Teaching and Learning in the advancement of the human capital of the college, the faculty. Will be proactive in enabling the continuous improvement process and participate in a campus-wide mentoring program responsive to UHCL’s key commitments as set forth in the “Impact 2025 and Beyond” Strategic Plan (https://stories.uhcl.edu/strategic-plan). Will have Campus Security Authority responsibilities as defined by the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus crime Statistics Act (Clery Act). The Associate Dean will be critical to ensuring a culture of excellence in the CSE, while engaging in efforts to develop the next-generation technologies, systems, value-add opportunities, delivery and faculty models, and assessment strategies as UHCL seeks to serve the needs of tomorrow’s learners and employers.

Duties:

Operational accountability encompasses all student-related services including; admissions, development of course schedules, registration and advisement, academic honesty, grade appeals and complaints, and teaching assistant appointments.
Managing student Thesis proposals, accreditation activities with ACS, ABET and SACS, student recruitment and program marketing.

Qualifications

Required:

1. Doctoral Degree (Ph.D./Ed.D.) in Science or Engineering.

2. Evidence of significantly progressive experience and levels of responsibility.

3. Meet the requirements to be an Associate Professor with Tenure or higher.

Desired:

Displaying bi-lingual ability or having bi-lingual ability.
