Job Description

The Applied Materials Division at Argonne National Laboratory is seeking a postdoctoral appointee to perform research in printing and coating. The successful candidate will engage in programs involving expertise in electrical engineering, materials science, and chemical engineering. The candidate will work to develop device fabrication and testing process, investigate new concepts and applications, and to communicate results and implications of work to collaborators and scientific community.

Education and Experience Requirements
  • The prospective candidate is expected to hold a Ph.D. in materials science, chemical engineering, electrical engineering, applied physics, or a closely related field.

  • A strong background in colloidal chemistry, printing and coating (e.g., ink jet, aerosol jet, screen printing, slot-die coating), materials characterization, and electrical testing.

  • Skills in using computer software for device simulation, experiment design, and data treatment, such as ANSIS HFSS, MATLAB, LabVIEW, Python, and SolidWorks.

  • Skills in ink dispersion characterization, such as viscosity or rheological property measurement.

  • Skills in electrical property testing such as I-C, I-V curves and Hall effect measurement.

  • Skills in structure and structure analysis, such as XRD, SEM, TEM.

  • Knowledge and experience in battery, fuel cell, water and CO2 hydrolysis is a plus

  • Strong oral and written communication skills at all levels of the organization.

  • Self-motivated independent worker as well as good team player.
