The Office of Strategic Planning & Research supports a collaborative, data-driven environment where OEM units set and meet enrollment goals through reporting, analysis, research, projections, data visualizations, and simulations. SPR partners with campus leadership to create an in-depth look at enrollment trends and work with our campus partners to strategize new initiatives that help drive the campus forward. SPR also provides operational support to other OEM units and works with campus partners on ongoing initiatives such as pre-registration, as well as builds and maintains web applications, provides data analysis, as well as reporting.
This position is part of Reporting Services within Strategic Planning & Research.
Reporting Services works primarily with student records data such as schedule of classes, enrollment, and degrees / diplomas.
Our team of developers create and maintain a suite of web applications written primarily in PHP with a Postgres database back end.
We provide operational support for the Office of the Registrar, Student Central, the Office of Student Financial Assistance, and the Office of First Year Experience, as well as work with various partners across the Bloomington campus.
As a result, we provide a variety of services and work with various technologies that allow users to interact with data, as well as provide troubleshooting, testing, data verification, analysis, and transport, application security, as well as support an office calendar of jobs, deadlines, and other reminders.
Provides experienced analysis and programming related to the design, development, and support of systems.
Consults with stakeholder(s) to define system requirements, problems, and proposals; conducts detailed studies, presents detailed requirements/designs to the stakeholder(s), and obtains agreement and approval for proposed updates/changes.
Prepares conversion and systems implementation plans and schedules; translates system design to detailed program specifications.
Documents systems analysis and programming efforts (changes, new functionality, issue/problem resolution); performs system unit and integration testing and presents final test results to stakeholder(s) and/or leadership.
Researches and stays up-to-date with new standards, tools, and emerging technology and services and makes recommendations for possible short-term, mid-term or long-term integration.
Ensures that all protocols used in the design and programming of systems are up to date and compliant with university policies and standards.
Bachelor's degree (preferably in computer science or a related field.)
2 years of systems programming/analysis or related experience.

Database design and query proficiency with Oracle or Postgres.
Experience or training with Cold Fusion and/or Sharepoint.
Familiarity with the IU WCMS, IU Framework, IU Data Warehouse and Reporting Environment, Rivet, and/or FireForms.
