Job Summary
Department Specific Responsibilities:

Provides experienced consultation and employs a variety of computational sequence analysis (mathematical and computing) tools to model and analyze NGS data in support of clinical genomics laboratory operation.
Accesses, extracts and prepares NGS data for analysis, including combining data run on multiple platforms as well as externally generated data in support of meta-analyses
Installs, configures, customizes, and supports analytical software for data on research clusters; develops software and programming scripts for software and workflow systems utilized by NGS pipeline.
Undertakes performance and reliability assessments to ensure systems are performing to maximum productivity and scientific validity; participates in ongoing evaluation of new software, systems, approaches, and emerging technologies.
Documents consultation, analysis, and quality control efforts; may contribute to grant and report writing.
Stays up-to-date on emerging technologies/tools, trends, standards, and best practices related to NGS bioinformatics.

Qualifications
EDUCATION

Required

Bachelor's degree
Preferred

Degree in computer science, bioinformatics, biology, or a related field
WORK EXPERIENCE

Required

2 years of research technology support, large biological data analysis, or related experience
Combinations of related education and experience may be considered.
