Job Description

Argonne National Laboratory is looking for an Accounting/Financial Assistant within the Financial Management Procurement Service Division.

The Accounting/Financial Assistant will perform tasks in the Accounting area to ensure the validity and timeliness of accounting activities. You will establish and maintain complex tables and transaction file data to process and monitor contract payables, customer payments, sponsor disbursements, accounting transactions, and requests for accounting data. Assist Accountants with special assignments and respond to accounting inquiries.

Position Requirements

Required Knowledge, Skills, & Experience:

  • Proven computer skills and accounting systems software experience.
  • Oral and written communication skills.
  • Interpersonal skills and ability to conduct oneself in a professional manner.
  • Associates Degree in Accounting preferred.
  • Ability to model Argonne’s Core Values: Impact, Safety, Respect, Integrity, and Teamwork.

 The selected candidate will be placed at the appropriate level (SA3 or SA4) dependent upon depth and breadth of relevant knowledge and skills brought to the position, as well as the amount of relevant experience. The requirements of the various levels are as follows:

  • SA3 Level: Highschool and 8+ years of experience or equivalent.
  • SA4 Level: Highschool and 10+ years of experience or Associates Degree with 8+ years of experience or equivalent.
