Argonne National Laboratory invites applications for engineer positions in software development for applying high performance computing techniques and artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning/deep learning (ML/DL) methods to challenges in biomedicine.
Selected candidates will work with Argonne scientists on developing methods to analyze sequencing data, develop AI for science on leading-edge AI hardware and software. Candidates will be expected to use the advanced supercomputing facilities at the Argonne Leadership Computing Facility (ALCF), including the upcoming Aurora exascale system, other GPU-based systems.
- BS or MS in computer science, physical sciences, engineering, or related field
- Experience in programming with one or more programming languages, such as C, C++, or Python (preferable)
- Experience with machine learning methods and deep learning frameworks, such as TensorFlow or PyTorch
- Experience in using and developing high performance computing frameworks and libraries
- Experience with GPU programming in the machine learning context is valuable
- Knowledge of modern software development practices and techniques
- Strong collaboration skills and ability to work in a team environment

This role can be hired at one of two levels, and the requirements for each are as follows:
- RD1: Bachelor’s degree or Master’s degree, or equivalent
- RD2: Bachelor’s degree + 5 years of experience or a Master’s + 3 years of experience, or a PhD, or equivalent
