With a customer focused mindset, this senior Financial Management and Procurement Services (FMPS) business systems administrator position will have cognizance for multiple Laboratory wide business systems and be expected to apply technical skill, expertise, program management experience, and leadership ability to projects and tasks that improve the operational efficiency of the FMPS division and the Lab as a whole.
This role will operate with a large degree of autonomy and be expected to lead others in the implementation and enhancement of current and future lab-wide systems and their associated processes including but not limited to the implementation of a new Argonne Procurement System. This role will also have the responsibility of enhancing our data warehouse where it can function as the single reliable source of Lab financial data.
As a senior contributor within FMPS, this role will be expected to communicate effectively and often with FMPS and Lab management on status, decisions, and strategy. In addition to representing FMPS internally, this job will likely require frequent interaction with both current and future suppliers, often to negotiate a more favorable position for Argonne. Understanding one’s audience and subsequently communicating appropriately to stakeholders inside and outside the Lab will be key to the success of this position.
In leading the implementation and enhancement of business systems, this role is expected to become a subject matter expert of the Lab financial and procurement data and its respective integration into the various business systems. As such, this role will routinely be looked at to assist in the development of superior training materials that allow Argonne users to have a productive experience when using systems.
Given this position’s unique view into the Lab’s financial systems, the role will require the individual to be proactive in Identifying requirements, process improvements, and system configuration changes to support the Laboratory mission and the FMPS vision of driving simplicity into processes that set the department up for long term success with the ability to seamlessly absorb increased financial throughput due to Lab growth.
- Exceptional knowledge of Laboratory financial and procurement business processes.
- Knowledge of policies and procedures for financial management within the Laboratory.
- Experience developing and supporting financial and/or business systems.
- Knowledge of Microsoft applications.
- Ability to develop and troubleshoot queries, analyze data, and report.
- Organizational skills, ingenuity, and creativity, and the ability to solve problems.
- Project management skills and skill in setting work priorities, handling multiple assignments for multiple people, and time management.
- Ability to coordinate tasks and projects and collaborate with others to complete them.
- Flexibility and adaptability to new procedures and technology.
- Interpersonal skills and ability to interact with the internal team as well as directorate finance members and external software vendors.
- Skill in communicating effectively, orally and in writing.
