Job Description


Performs responsible research work that requires planning, completing, and occasionally supervising limited research projects in accordance with general plans approved by the supervisor. Will be involved in a Laser interstitial thermal therapy project on mouse brain tumors. Will perform research tasks, image analysis of animals and analyze data and report to supervisor. Experience with animal surgery, FACS sorting and analysis and laboratory tissue culture is required.

Job Duties

  • Collect and compile data.
  • Document and interpret results of experiments.
  • Perform animal surgery experiments.
  • Maintains tissue cultures for animal surgery experiments.
  • Works closely and interacts with lab personnel to assist them in their animal experiments and surgery.
  • Performs routine sample processing for IHC analysis.
  • Track inventory of reagents/supplies required and maintains log records etc. for the animal surgery.
  • Develop expertise in new technologies for animal surgery (laser interstitial thermal therapy)
  • Assists with protocol development and compliance for laser surgery of animals
  • Expertise in FACS sorting and analysis
  • Cultures virus-specific cells required for animal surgery experiments

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a Basic Science or related field. Four years of related experience may substitute for degree requirement.
  • One year of relevant experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in a related field.
  • Experience with animal surgery and laboratory research is preferred.
