Job Description
Summary
The Research Technician II is a position available at Baylor College of Medicine in the Knockout Mouse Phenotyping Program Production and Phenotyping group. This role supports the overall project goal of high-throughput evaluation of mouse models of human diseases. The technician will perform routine laboratory procedures and capture results into a digital laboratory notebook system. All Baylor College of Medicine Knockout Mouse Phenotyping Program Production and Phenotyping staff members also have regular interactions with Baylor College of Medicine CCM staff as needed in matters of animal colony maintenance, welfare, and research procedures.
Job Duties
- Assists with standard laboratory operations, particularly molecular biology procedures.
- Performs cloning, standard and real-time PCR genotyping, the operation of fluidics-handling robots.
- Enters data into a research database.
- Performs routine laboratory procedures and capture results into a digital laboratory notebook system.
- Interacts regularly with the staff members that includes KOMP2 husbandry team and reports to others within this larger group.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in a Basic Science or related field. Four years of related experience may substitute for degree requirement.
- No experience required.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in molecular biology procedures and computer data is a plus.
- Highly motivated, detail-oriented, individual with strong communication skills.
- Able to demonstrate a history of excellent workplace attendance and meticulous work, highly motivated and detail-oriented with strong communication skills.
