Job Description
Summary
The Waterland Lab is seeking to recruit a Laboratory Helper to provide computational support to aid in the identification and characterization of systemic interindividual variation in DNA methylation. The laboratory Helper position will principally involve computational analysis of next-generation sequencing data, using both existing software tools and custom-designed approaches to novel analytical goals.
Job Duties
- Works on bioinformatic analysis of existing whole-genome and targeted bisulfite sequencing data sets.
- Analyses results and plans next stage experiments to test interpretations.
- Searches literature to identify and understand related recent literature in developmental epigenetics.
Minimum Qualifications
- High School diploma or GED.
- No experience required.
Preferred Qualifications
- Expertise in computer science (e.g. current computer science undergraduate) and background in biology.
- Experience in epigenetics and bisulfite sequencing analysis.
- Proficient in programming languages such as Python and/or R is advantageous.
