Job Description

Summary

The Dan L. Duncan Comprehensive Cancer Center (DLDCCC) has an immediate opening for a Research Asst. II. This position is for the new DLDCCC Director's research lab that will support several physician investigators in one or more designated oncology disease areas. This support includes, but is not limited to preparing, conducting, and planning research experiments. This position will lead several lab staff and students/interns.

 

This is a new lab site set up and will require a self starter who can take initiative and progress as seamlessly as possible to full operations (quick turn around upon transition).

Job Duties

  • Scheduling and directing lab staff.
  • Lead staff activities and planning tasks and reporting methods and databases
  • Assisting with grant preparation 
  • Integral in collecting data and outcomes for reporting and recruitment of renewals and new grant submissions.
  • Assist with training new research staff 
  • Performs routine updates, ongoing evaluations, and training of existing and new staff within the lab setting and protocols.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a Basic Science or a related field. 
  • Three years of relevant experience.

Preferred Qualifications

Must be able to manage multiple competing priorities of deadlines and projects while maintaining a high quality work product in the context of running a research lab within an NCI-designated comprehensive cancer center.
