Job Description

Summary

The Yallampalli Lab is seeking a Research Assistant to carry out routine laboratory procedures. The lab is focused  on exploring biological mechanisms underlying the programming of adult diabetes particularly on the role of sex steroid hormones in both male and females.  We use a variety of biochemical, molecular, genomic, and functional approaches to investigate these mechanisms.  Research Assistant will be responsible to carryout the planned experiments, collect data and prepare for presentations.

Job Duties

  • Documents results and prepare them for presentations
  • Designs and conducts research experiments.
  • Summarizes research findings for manuscripts to publish in research journals.
  • Prepares buffers and reagents for laboratory operations.
  • Manages cryotanks and refrigerators.
  • Performs RNA/DNA extraction and tissue culture, PCR, Western blotting, and other routine lab assays.
  • Performs histological procedures: tissue preparation, slide preparation, IHC/IF staining.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a Basic Science or a related field.
  • Two years of relevant experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in a related field.
