Summary

Full-time position for an experienced research coordinator in the Resilience and Diabetes (RAD) Behavioral Research Lab (PI: Marisa Hilliard, PhD) at Texas Children’s Hospital (TCH) Baylor College of Medicine (BCM), Department of Pediatrics, Psychology Division. There is currently funding for a full-time research coordinator for 2 years, and additional opportunities may be available after that time. The research on strengths-based, behavioral and family management of pediatric diabetes focuses on families of children, adolescents, and young adults with type 1 diabetes. A successful research coordinator will work on several research projects. The coordinator will contribute to study management and conduct in coordination with the PI and study team, and will conduct day to day activities of clinical research protocols, including data collection/management, participant screening/recruitment/enrollment, data collection/documentation, participant retention/monitoring, and supporting the delivery of a behavioral intervention protocol to study participants.

Job Duties

  • Study oversight and management
  • General oversight study conduct at Texas Children’s Hospital site and coordination with study staff at collaborating external sites including:
  • Interviews, screens, and recruits patients/families for studies; explains processes and procedures to educate participant regarding research study
  • Conducts informed consent and assent procedures Corresponds with patient throughout study participation. Travel to other
  • TCH sites for study recruitment and study visits with participants is often needed (mileage paid).
  • Data collection and management Specific Position Duty: Collects patient information processes documents and enters information into study database.
  • Collecting, cleaning, and managing survey data.
  • Collecting patient data from medical devices and electronic medical record reviews.
  • Collect, process, ship, and maintain paperwork for blood and/or biological specimens according to procedures outlined in study protocol.
  • Deliver brief behavioral intervention protocols in-person or virtually per study protocol.
  • Developing and maintaining databases in BCM CTMS system, Microsoft Excel, and RedCAP. Maintains records and regulatory documents and records for research studies, including IRB protocols and other regulatory requirements.
  • Collaboration with external partners
  • Communication with collaborating investigators internally at BCM/TCH and externally at other study sites, as well as external consultants, data safety & monitoring board (DSMB) members, and others.
  • Patient contact Specific Position Duty: Frequent contact with patients/families for study recruitment and activities, including by telephone, email, and in busy outpatient and inpatient medical settings.
  • Must complete all required training modules related to the Responsible Conduct of Research (e.g., CITI Program training)

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field. Four years of related experience may substitute for degree requirement.
  • Two years of relevant experience.
