The Section of Natural Sciences of the University of Lübeck and the Leibniz Institute of Virology (LIV, formerly HPI) offer the position of a

Professorship (W2) for Experimental Virology (f/m/d)

The future position holder should have an international reputation and a track record of successful experimental research on human pathogenic viruses that pose a threat to global health.
Participation in teaching in the Molecular Life Sciences and Infection Biology programs and in graduate education is expected. Habilitation or equivalent scientific achievements and teaching experience are required.

The professorship is located at the Leibniz Institute of Virology (LIV, formerly HPI) in Hamburg. LIV is an independent research institution of the Leibniz Association and committed to research on the biology of different human viruses as well as the pathogenesis of viral diseases.
The LIV offers the opportunity to perform cutting-edge research in a world-class research environment with excellent facilities (www.leibniz-liv.de). LIV collaborates closely with local universities and non-university research institutions and is a founding member of the German Center for Infection Research (DZIF; www.dzif.de) and the Centre for Structural Systems Biology (CSSB; www.cssb-hamburg.de).

In addition to the doctorate, the prerequisite for employment is additional scientific achievements that can be achieved within the framework of a junior professorship, through a habilitation or equivalent scientific achievements, even outside the university sector.
